Why Vascular and Interventional Radiology?

Vascular & Interventional Radiology (VIR) procedures are performed using image guidance, catheters, and specialized instruments instead of creating large incisions to gain access inside the patient’s body. Now we can guide catheters through blood vessels with the help of X-rays, ultrasound, MRI, and other imaging technology toward the treatment area. And thanks to fewer risks involved, even critically ill patients have been shown the possibility of relief with this alternative approach when no other options would have been safe enough.
